ARTICLE: WELLNESS DEFINED
BY: MICHAEL RICHARD HANDS, MA

Wellness is a dynamic state of healthy living where you
experience abundance and vitality on all of the dimensions
of your being. And it is the right and privilege of
everyone. There is no prerequisite for it other than your
free choice.

A person can be living a process of wellness and yet be
physically handicapped; aged; scared in the face of
challenge; in pain; imperfect. No matter what your current
state of health, you can begin to appreciate yourself as a
growing, changing person and allow yourself to move toward
a happier life and more successful existence.

Wellness integrates mind, body, and spirit with a balanced
flow of energy. It is an ongoing process of choices that
become the stories of our lives.

Wellness is never static -- we never stay at the same
place. So it must consistently be assessed. The core
assessment involves an evaluation of what is working and
not working in your life right now.

Wellness requires:

* Self-Awareness
* Informed Physical Care
* Meaningful Connection With Important People
* Balancing Mind, Body, & Spirit

In my work as an Executive Wellness Coach, my goal is to
facilitate a process of assessment and strategic holistic
response that integrates these 4 essential prerequisites
for wellness. Our task becomes authoring a new wellness
story for each professional who engages this process.

The pursuit of wellness has immediate rewards. You can:

* Feel Better
* Become Stronger
* Look Younger
* Become Healthier
* Increase Energy
* Enhance Physical and Emotional Well-being

Living a lifestyle of Optimal Wellness is indeed just that:
a lifestyle. It's not a one time decision or a remedial
program that you engage for a couple months after a medical
wake-up call. Yet, when we decide to re-write aspects of
our current life story having a supportive, ongoing
structure can be the very best resource to help us achieve
our goal. This is a principle reason I advocate wellness
coaching.

My "ACHIEVE OPTIMAL WELLNESS IN 90 DAYS!" program is a
perfect example of this. Over the course of a three month
period of time a small group of professionals create a
mastermind alliance in support of deepening their
commitment to and expression of a wellness mindset and a
lifestyle aimed at optimal health in body, mind, and
spirit.
